(I am no longer Chair of the Philosophy
Department. I’ve been
succeed by Helen Longino)
My work lies at the intersection of the philosophy of
language and the philosophy of mind, with an occasional foray into the history
of philosophy.
I’m currently trying to finish a long overdue smallish
book called Referring
to the World and getting started on a massive tome called Toward a Natural
History of Normativity.
Read my book of essays, Reference and the Rational Mind.
Along with my dear friend and colleague, John Perry, I have developed and
co-host a radio program called
Philosophy Talk: The Program that Questions Everything
-- Except
your Intelligence
Philosophy Talk is about to begin its 6th season.
The program originates on KALW 91.7 FM, San Francisco, where it airs Sundays from 10am
– 11am, PT.
We are also on the stations of Oregon Public Broadcasting and on a growing number of stations
around the country.
