Sustainable Stanford Launches Student Green Fund

Sustainable Stanford has launched the Stanford Student Green Fund, which provides one-time grants for innovative student-driven projects designed to create a more sustainable campus. A total of $30,000 per academic year is available to fund projects.
“We started the fund to enable students to be directly involved in helping Stanford be a more sustainable campus,” says Fahmida Ahmed, manager of sustainability programs in the Department of Sustainability and Energy Management. “Our students are a tremendous resource, and they’ll come up with innovative ideas that will not only complement our efforts, but also create more opportunities for ongoing student, staff and faculty collaboration.”
Both graduate students and undergraduates are eligible to apply. Projects must aim to reduce Stanford’s ecological footprint and have a clearly defined, measurable outcome. They must involve students directly and incorporate publicity, education or outreach that raises awareness of sustainability on campus.
The program is administered by students with staff and faculty oversight. Applications will be reviewed on first-come, first-served basis. Funds will be awarded by the Grant-Making Committee, which is composed of four students, two staff members and one faculty member.
